“A Light exists in Spring
Not present on the Year
At any other period –
When March is scarcely here

A Color stands abroad
On Solitary Fields
That Science cannot overtake
But Human Nature feels.

It waits upon the Lawn,
It shows the furthest Tree
Upon the furthest Slope you know
It almost speaks to you.

Then as Horizons step
Or Noons report away
Without the Formula of sound
It passes and we stay –

A quality of loss
Affecting our Content
As Trade had suddenly encroached
Upon a Sacrament.”

~Emily Dickinson

I love the dappled sunshine in the background. the whole tree Peaches! I like the blue farm building behind the pink peach blossom. This one makes me feel like Spring is really bursting! I want to write on this one :-) The sun is peeping through the huge deodar pine behind the little peach tree. Apple leaves First apple blossoms!

David, one of Mom’s three brothers drove through town on Sunday with his wife, Robyn, on their way to see their son perform in a jazz band that night, and they stopped for a while to see all of us! I’m sure we overwhelmed them with our numbers as we just kept coming, but it’s so important to see family when you can!

And Gigi spent another afternoon with us this weekend and helped me entertain the boys so Peter could study! We went to the Natural Cafe and got smoothies and shakes, and then went across the street to the library and Gigi got a library card! Then we went back to the Natural Cafe to see Uncle David and Aunt Robyn. Seth asked “Which Uncle David is mine?” 🙂

I’m also posting a couple pics from today. It’s a monumental day and you’ll see why…

Waiting for our shakes. Eating salt, yum! uh, no. we put a stop to that. :-p that’s our order number on his ear… Ian trying to be patient. toys help. Gigi and I! Yes, I let him clean up his own mess in his own way! Ian SO wanted mommy’s blueberry shake! He liked it! The plaza fountain. Not quite tall enough to climb in yet! He’s cutting his eye teeth on top first instead of his two front teeth! This is a pretty good pic of his bottom teeth! Jerome caught his balance! But Seth lost his. Unfortunately this was before the Barlows got there. But thanks for the pics, Gigi! He sure does love his daddy! This strikes me as funny because Jerome was trying to pic Brennan up and manhandle him like he does Ian, but Brennan can hold his own! An attempt at a cousin shot. The monkeys! The event of the day! Jerome learned how to blow a bubble gum bubble! In spite of the spitting and dropping of the wad, I was very proud of him, and thought maybe he would have learned to blow a bubble sooner had I given him bubble gum before now? I don’t know, but he’s thrilled. Working on another one… Tada! Or, “Mm,hmm” as he tries to tell me he’s gotten one. :-) And for those of you who have so kindly inquired about the healing process of Seth’s finger… He only ever complains about it if he bumps it hard! He’s been such a brave little guy!

We spent the afternoon with Gigi and visited some with Janine while staying out of the house for a few hours so Peter could study today. Gigi made iced tea and Janine put her birds on the ground so the boys could see them while we sat on her back porch and watched the boys play. I loved watching Jerome and Seth slide down together as they hugged each other, or go sliding face down one on top of the other on the backyard playset! It was a gloriously warm day and so good to see each other! We waited for Ian to wake up from his nap and then went for a stroll around the lake with the boys and the magical late afternoon light. Seth and Jerome enjoyed throwing rocks into the water while Gigi and I took turns carrying Ian because the stroller couldn’t make it, and talking and watching and being together. I want to remember how Seth threw a rock near a duck and said “I got a wish!” and when Gigi asked him what he wished for he replied: “I wisheded for a duck!”. Then when he asked if he could roll down the hill to the golf coarse below us and I let him, his body rolled sideways instead of downwards so he scooted down on his bottom.

Hope to see you tomorrow, Gigi!

These are just some pictures I took yesterday and today: My bedroom with Ian for two nights this week thanks to Tim and Misty. The cold night air really did help Ian breathe better! Before breakfast Friday morning. It was the first time Ian had really wanted to play outside since he’d been sick. I love to watch their imaginative play! Remember when Seth was crawling just like that? Ian took to it really quickly, too! He crawls on his knees on the carpet, but up he goes on his toes as soon as he feels the hard floor and outside. The bear crawl! In this picture (after I soak up his smile) I see Ian’s chest that’s not contracting with every breath anymore, and thank God for one more day, one more breath! He’s not fussing, he’s making faces…and snorting! I love the colors in this one! And yes, I bathed him. He didn’t mind getting rained on, but that’s as close as he went to the sprinkler!

I hadn’t heard my twin’s voice since Thanksgiving, and she called me today! They got a telephone in the jungle today and she called me to test the line!

Since you have internet now you can read my blog!

I can’t tell you how hard it has been not being in touch with you, Nessers. Everyday there is a yearning, a tugging on my heart and thoughts towards you…if that makes sense, I know you feel the same things. And I want to say how absolutely thrilled I was to hear your voice today, but those words fall short. About all I could do when you called was laugh! You sounded so good, so close, so familiar and part of me…and so very, very far away at the same time. My heart is a little lighter, quieter, just knowing I can call you when I want to now, and that it might be you on the phone again tomorrow!

Jerome has prayed everyday for a while now that Uncle Vann, Aunt Vanessa, Corynn, Ethan, and Clara would finish their house and phone lines. Boy, did his face light up when I told him you had gotten a phone today! He said “I didn’t know that!” and corrected his prayer from “please God” to “thank you God” tonight. 🙂

In other news, Ian is asleep right now breathing easier than he has all week! I’m hoping that he’s coming out of it, and I won’t have to sleep outside with him again tonight or stand in the bathroom with him for hours tomorrow. Although I’m so grateful to Mom for taking Jerome and Seth for me when Ian was bad, and for Peter coming home from work to help me and take turns with him and letting me sleep, and also for Tim and Misty who set up their tent and air mattress in our front yard for us! How very blessed I am!

And how thankful I am for every breath God gives us.
