Westlake Hike

Last Friday Peter invited the boys and I to drive out to Westlake and hike with him on his lunch break. It’s a real treat to see Daddy during the day so we packed a lunch and jumped in the car for the 40 minute drive out. Jane met us at the trail head as she works just down the road…

Out of the car! And immediately climbing a rock. The big boys wanted to climb trees, so Peter helped them up. and down again it was a fun bucket seat where a limb used to be before jumping down both boys got to study the tree they were sitting in…as it was riddled with woodpecker holes that were filled with nuts. Cammomile grew on the trail and sent up a delicious scent as we walked over it. Another hiker passed us and Ian followed his dog all the way down part of the hill he had just climbed. The owner let him pet his dog which thrilled Ian! Looking back Peter wanted to show us the wildflowers… so I took my macro and I’m so glad I did. There were golden fields… of these little yellow flowers. We tried to look them up in a fieldguide but couldn’t identify them. Golden waves Anyone know what these lovelys are? discovering a flower for Mommy! a picnic spot! I’m coming! prietnova appatita! Ian would sit on Daddy’s feet, then Mommy’s feet. brothers lunching on a rock on the trail again rolling hills crowning field of gold Seth munching an apple and hiking a path through the gold purple frame path purple white miner’s lettuce yum! Jerome hiking with a teddy bear and Seth hiking with an apple We turned around here to head back Daddy with his boys blue rays :-) golden smiles Seth pink and yellow fuscia fireworks Seth plopped down for a little rest after a big climb he took in the beauty and a breather and was ready to get up and finish the hike. Back to the beginning. Thank you for the beautiful hike, Peter! Now for the drive home. and look who was there when we got home! Gigi! and she brought her baby dog Tank! whom we all enjoyed and adore!

I thought I would check your blog before I went to bed… I am so very glad I did!!! I don’t even know how to say how beautiful your pictures are! The flowers, landscapes, boys, Jane, you, everything you captured from that hike was gorgeous! Thank you for posting them and your sweet captions. I wish I was there to greet you every time you came home 🙂 I LOVE YOU!!!
