Our yard is surrounded by three orange trees in blossom and with the slightest breeze smells of heaven come wafting through the open doors and windows. The birds are singing all day long, and crickets and frogs take up the notes at night.

I love Spring!

A LIGHT exists in spring
Not present on the year
At any other period.
When March is scarcely here

A color stands abroad
On solitary hills
That silence cannot overtake,
But human nature feels.

It waits upon the lawn;
It shows the furthest tree
Upon the furthest slope we know;
It almost speaks to me.

Then, as horizons step,
Or noons report away,
Without the formula of sound,
It passes, and we stay:

A quality of loss
Affecting our content,
As trade had suddenly encroached
Upon a sacrament.~Emily Dickinson

Noel and Rebekah came over for an afternoon of pictures  last week. We shared lunch together, watched the boys play outside, Rebekah napped while we picked oranges and then we had a little photoshoot with a happy baby!

Spending time with these two reminded me of something I copied into Ian’s baby book.

“Yes, my precious baby, you are welcome to your mother’s heart, welcome to her time, her strength, her health, her tenderest cares, her lifelong prayers.” ~Elizabeth Prentiss

Here are my favorite shots from our afternoon together:

Today at the Grand Prix race Jerome told Jane that he’s been looking forward to this day so much and that he had a lot of fun! Peter and Jerome put a lot of hard and careful work into his car and had some great times together.

 Waiting for the races to begin. Jerome’s car is up for his first run… And there it goes! (On the red track) So fun! I think this is his face he makes when he’s trying to swallow a huge smile. :-) And he won first place for design in his group! (Same award as last year, actually) I’m glad you had fun, baby!

This Spring these amazing young people asked me to shoot their Senior Portraits, and they all agreed to come  to me! They tromped through the mud leaned against rustic old barns, and brought their own wonderful ideas and creativity. Troopers all! I love how their pictures turned out, so even though they’re on my website already I wanted to highlight some of my favorites here.

There are a few blogs that I watch regularly, some of the bloggers I even know :-), but whenever there is an absence of a new post I automatically assume they have a life. There are more important things to do than post on a blog. I find time here and there to keep this one up because it’s easier to post pictures for long distance family and friends with a blurb about our life than to write every one of them and print copies of photos (which I know would be even more appreciated but it would never happen). And I love to tell stories with pictures. Stories about my boys and life with them. Chronological stories. I post for myself as a mother…to remember.

My excuse for not blogging this week is because I’ve been sick. My three rambunctious boys have felt totally fine, praise be to God, but they’ve had a weary mother looking after them. They had a mild cold each two and three weeks ago, then Peter succumbed last week and had to take a day off work to sleep through the worst of it. It didn’t look so bad when the boys had it, but it’s hit us big people pretty hard. The worst day for me was Monday. I could hardly walk across the yard without feeling shaky and weak and kept falling onto the bed whenever I knew the boys were safely occupied. God sent me angels in our landlords! They were out for the day and took the boys for over an hour so I could rest, letting them follow around and play and eat with them, then when it was time for them to really get to work it was nap time for Ian. 🙂 We’re able to do our school work and we’ve been enjoying a new stack of library books!

Today was much better and I hope to catch up here a little. I have a Mommy & Me shoot and a Six Month shoot with my nieces to post as well as some Senior Portraits…so stay tuned!
