{"id":551,"date":"2007-10-30T11:38:34","date_gmt":"2007-10-30T18:38:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.streetpoet.org\/?p=551"},"modified":"2007-10-30T12:28:56","modified_gmt":"2007-10-30T19:28:56","slug":"songs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.streetpoet.org\/index.php\/2007\/10\/songs\/","title":{"rendered":"Songs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>My mother recently asked me what I am singing these days&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>The question didn&#8217;t surprise me coming from her, she was always singing something when I was small and I knew her grief was profound when the house was songless.<\/p>\n<p>I had been singing quite a bit at home trying to learn these songs whose words were ministering to me, but then cold after cold had stolen my voice this fall and just now I&#8217;m enjoying them again. I found the words online, printed them out, and taped them up in my kitchen. Thought I&#8217;d share the words with you.<\/p>\n<p><img src=\"http:\/\/blog.streetpoet.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/dsc_8750ps-blog.JPG\" alt=\"dsc_8750ps-blog.JPG\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&#8221; \tIn Christ alone my hope is found<br \/>\nHe is my light, my strength, my song<br \/>\nThis Cornerstone, this solid ground<br \/>\nFirm through the fiercest drought and storm<br \/>\nWhat heights of love, what depths of peace<br \/>\nWhen fears are stilled, when strivings cease<br \/>\nMy Comforter, my All in All<br \/>\nHere in the love of Christ I stand<\/p>\n<p>In Christ alone, who took on flesh<br \/>\nFullness of God in helpless babe<br \/>\nThis gift of love and righteousness<br \/>\nScorned by the ones He came to save<br \/>\n&#8216;Till on that cross as Jesus died<br \/>\nThe wrath of God was satisfied<br \/>\nFor every sin on Him was laid<br \/>\nHere in the death of Christ I live<\/p>\n<p>There in the ground His body lay<br \/>\nLight of the world by darkness slain<br \/>\nThen bursting forth in glorious Day<br \/>\nUp from the grave He rose again<br \/>\nAnd as He stands in victory<br \/>\nSin&#8217;s curse has lost it&#8217;s grip on me<br \/>\nFor I am His and He is mine<br \/>\nBrought with the precious blood of Christ<\/p>\n<p>No guilt in life, no fear in death<br \/>\nThis is the power of Christ in me<br \/>\nFrom life&#8217;s first cry to final breath<br \/>\nJesus commands my destiny<br \/>\nNo power of hell, no scheme of man<br \/>\nCan ever pluck me from His hand<br \/>\n&#8216;Till He returns or calls me home<br \/>\nHere in the power of Christ I&#8217;ll stand&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>~<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;How deep the Father&#8217;s love for us,<br \/>\nHow vast beyond all measure<br \/>\nThat He should give His only Son<br \/>\nTo make a wretch His treasure<\/p>\n<p>How great the pain of searing loss,<br \/>\nThe Father turns His face away<br \/>\nAs wounds which mar the chosen One,<br \/>\nBring many sons to glory<\/p>\n<p>Behold the Man upon a cross,<br \/>\nMy sin upon His shoulders<br \/>\nAshamed I hear my mocing voice,<br \/>\nCall out among the scoffers<\/p>\n<p>It was my sin that helf Him there<br \/>\nUntil it was accomplished<br \/>\nHis dying breath has brought me life<br \/>\nI knoww that it is finished<\/p>\n<p>I will not boast in anything<br \/>\nNo gifts, no power, no wisdom<br \/>\nBut I will boast inJesus Christ<br \/>\nHis death and resurrection<\/p>\n<p>Why should I gain from His reward?<br \/>\nI cannot give an answer<br \/>\nBut this I know with all my heart<br \/>\nHis wounds have paid my ransom&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>~<\/p>\n<p>&#8221; \tHoly words long preserved<br \/>\nFor our walk in this world,<br \/>\nThey resound with God&#8217;s own heart<br \/>\nOh, let the ancient words impart.<\/p>\n<p>Words of life, words of hope<br \/>\nGive us strength, help us cope<br \/>\nIn this world, where e&#8217;er we roam<br \/>\nAncient words will guide us home.<\/p>\n<p>Chorus:<br \/>\nAncient words ever true<br \/>\nChanging me, and changing you.<br \/>\nWe have come with open hearts<br \/>\nOh let the ancient words impart.<\/p>\n<p>Holy words of our faith<br \/>\nHanded down to this age.<br \/>\nCame to us through sacrifice<br \/>\nOh heed the faithful words of christ.<\/p>\n<p>Holy words long preserved<br \/>\nFor our walk in this world.<br \/>\nThey resound with God&#8217;s own heart<br \/>\nOh let the ancient words impart.<\/p>\n<p>Chorus x4<\/p>\n<p>We have come with open hearts<br \/>\nOh let the ancient words impart.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>My mother recently asked me what I am singing these days&#8230; The question didn&#8217;t surprise me coming from her, she was always singing something when I was small and I knew her grief was profound when the house was songless.
